Trattoria Lumière

Handmade pasta every morning, a seven-course tasting menu that changes with the market, and sixteen tables five minutes on foot from the Duomo.

Gambero Rosso · Two Forks Michelin · Bib Gourmand Osterie d'Italia
Since 2011

Six tables became sixteen. The pasta did not change.

Giulia opened the dining room in 2011 and still runs it herself most evenings. Antonio cooks — he grew up in his grandmother's kitchen in Emilia and still makes the pasta by hand every morning. Paolo looks after the wine, mostly small Italian growers. Marta will be the one who answers when you ask for a table.

Antonio in the kitchen

He learned in Emilia, in a kitchen with one window and a rolling pin longer than he was tall. Tagliatelle, tortelli, gnocchi — all of it made before the doors open, none of it made twice the same way. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free dishes run right across the menu; tell us about allergies when you book and the kitchen sees them before you arrive.

Questions guests ask

Yes — tell us how many of you there are and what time suits, and the request goes straight through to the restaurant. Dinner service runs 19:00 to 23:30. Giulia or Marta confirm it personally, usually within the hour during service.

We seat up to 12 in the main room and up to 30 in the back room for a private event. From eight people upwards we agree the menu with you in advance, so send the date and the number and it goes to Marta.

Yes — vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free dishes right across the menu. Tell us about any allergies and we note them on your reservation so the kitchen sees them before you arrive. Anything the kitchen needs to answer itself goes to a person rather than a guess.

We are open Tuesday to Sunday. Lunch is served 12:00–14:30 and dinner 19:00–23:30, and the kitchen rests in between. Closed Mondays.

Seven courses at €85 per person, or €120 with Paolo's wine pairing — a glass chosen for each course. It is best taken by the whole table, and it takes about two and a half hours. Worth the evening.

The back room seats up to 30 from €1,500, with a dedicated host and a menu agreed beforehand. Send the date and the number of guests and Marta will come back to you with what is possible.

In the centre of Milan, five minutes on foot from the Duomo. There is valet parking in the evening.

Our dining room

A trattoria run by four people who are usually in the room

Giulia opened it in 2011 with six tables and one rented oven.

She still runs the dining room herself most evenings — the one who notices that table four has been waiting, that the couple by the window are celebrating something, that the bread needs to go round again.

Antonio came two years later from Emilia and never stopped making pasta by hand in the morning. Paolo builds the list around small Italian growers, most of them people he has actually met. Marta answers the messages, remembers the anniversaries, and holds the back room together on a Saturday.

Six tables became sixteen. The pasta did not change.

This sends a request, not a confirmation. Giulia or Marta come back to you personally. Free to cancel or move up to four hours before.

Good to know

Not for tables up to six. For larger groups and private events the restaurant asks for a small deposit to hold the date — Marta arranges that with you directly.

Just message us here. You can cancel or move a reservation free of charge up to four hours before, and it is recorded straight away.

On WhatsApp you reach Lumière's AI host first — it answers at any hour, and hands you to Marta or Giulia the moment something needs a human.
